Leeds City Council Complaints

Contact Leeds City Council for assistance with complaints about the Council. They can direct you to resources for support and help with problems with their online services, which are available 24/7. The Council is unlikely to be able to resolve your complaint immediately, as it will require investigation by the relevant people. They will aim to respond to complaints within 15 working days, or refer you to the Ombudsman service.

Leeds Children’s Services Complaints

Leeds City Council is responsible for Children’s Services, which includes education, social care, early years services, and youth services. If you are not happy with the care that your child or someone else’s child is receiving, then call. If possible, you should raise concerns with the manager of the service provider first. Should the source of your complaint be causing stress, you can call the Council for extra support with resolving it.

Leeds Adult Social Care Complaints

To make a complaint about adult services or health services in the borough, call Leeds City Council. You may want to express your dissatisfaction with the quality or suitability of particular services. Or you might complain about delays, lack of services, poor staff attitudes, or other failures. Complain about decision-making within services, especially if you want to dispute a decision. Find out how to get an advocate to handle the complaint.

Leeds Council Member Complaints

If you think that a member of Leeds City Council is breaching the Member Code of Conduct, call to report it. You can make an initial complaint regarding any member of staff if they behave in a manner that lacks integrity, if they are discriminatory towards you or anyone else, or if they break the law. They may ask you to then submit a formal written complaint to the Monitoring Officer. This person will assess the validity of your complaint.

Housing Leeds Complaints

Council housing is under the management of Housing Leeds. You can call to complain if you are not happy with the standard of service, a response to a request, or any actions by Housing Leeds or their contractors. You should initially report any faults to their Customer Relations team so that they have the opportunity to fix them. Tenants in Belle Isle will need to contact BITMO instead of Housing Leeds to handle property complaints.

Leeds Schools Complaints

Complaints about schools in Leeds are separate from complaints about Children’s Services. Speak to your child’s teacher or Head of Year to try and resolve issues you have concerning their education or learning environment. If the school fails to address your complaints or take remedial action, then contact the Council to report your problems with the school. However, the Council can only provide informal support, not intervention.
