The first KFC store was opened around 1930, in Indiana USA. By 1935, the restaurant was doing so well that the major of Kentucky named founder Harland Sanders the “Kentucky Colonel”. The name stuck and Harland is still known as the Colonel to this day. By 1939, the Colonel perfected his secret chicken recipe, and today it is still used to create KFC chicken.
Today, there are over 2000 stores in the UK alone, and the popularity keeps growing. Youtubers and bloggers throughout the world try to recreate the secret mix of herbs and spices every week. However, the code is yet to be cracked, and the Colonel’s legacy remains top secret.

KFC UK Delivery
Throughout 2015, KFC created a new delivery service for their food. It proved too tricky for some of their smaller restaurants and was later pulled due to too much demand and not enough staffing to sustain the service. As of 2016, there are no new plans for a KFC delivery service. However, on sites such as Just Eat, there are companies who will pick up your desired fast food and deliver it to you for a fee. For more information on this, head over to the Just Eat website and see if a service like this runs in your area. You can call 0844 248 2064 if you would like to know more about the KFC delivery.
The menu from KFC has a variety of options for their customers. From chicken piece boxes to boneless banquets, to chicken burgers. There are so many options to choose from, you can also find the nutritional value for these meals on the menu, both online and instore. If you an allergy, or would simply like to know more about an item on the KFC menu, call KFC directly on 0844 826 8021.
As well as keeping their chickens in ethical free-range pens, KFC also recognises that food waste is a huge issue in the UK. Under 20% of the food at UK restaurants are wasted every day. At KFC, just under 3% of their food goes undersold each day. They do this by cooking food to order when they can, which reduces unwanted waste. KFC has also launched a scheme which helps homeless people find a meal for the night. For more information on this initiative, call the ethics team on 0845 753 2532.
