EDF Energy Complaints

If you want an apology and corrective action from EDF Energy, call to make a formal complaint. Whatever your issue may be, they will take the necessary steps to try and make things right again. Depending on the circumstances of your complaint, you might even be able to get financial compensation. They will keep in contact with you for as long as it takes to resolve the problem. Usually, they aim to close your complaint within 2 working days. You can request a review by a dedicated complaints handler which can take 10 days.

Energy Tariff Complaints

If you compare your tariff to others with EDF Energy or even rival suppliers, you might find a better offer. Call to complain if you think you should be entitled to a better tariff than your current one. However, if you have the Easy Online tariff, you cannot discuss it over the phone. You need to use the live chat feature on the website. Call this number to complain about other non-online-only tariffs. Complain if you experience a problem when trying to change tariffs. Or complain about exit fees if you want to leave your contract early.

Billing & Account Complaints

You should receive an EDF Energy welcome pack when you register for their supply. This will tell you everything you need to know about managing your account and paying your energy bills. Call if you are unable to understand your energy bill. Complain about any miscalculations on your bill or payment errors. Call to complain if you aren’t able to access your online account and view your statements or submit readings. Get help with your Direct Debit if you want to change the monthly amount, or complain if a bill is missing.

Meter & Reading Complaints

Complain if you do not understand how to use your energy meter. EDF Energy should tell you how often you need to submit readings and how to actually take a reading from the meter. Complain if you are certain that you provided accurate readings, but your bill is not correct. You can submit readings by just taking a photo using the app. Call to complain if the app is not allowing you to do this. Complain if your key card is faulty and won’t transfer top-ups. Or complain about your meter not working if it has turned off.

Smart Meter Complaints

Like most energy suppliers, EDF Energy operates smart meters as well. Complain if they are not available in your area yet. Or call and complain about the smart meter installation if there is a problem with your appointment. Smart meters are currently not available for prepayment customers, so complain if you want this to happen. Complain if your smart meter is malfunctioning or you can’t adjust how often it sends the automatic readings to EDF Energy. Find out if you can still have a smart meter if you’re moving away.

Moving Supplier Complaints

In the event that you are moving to a different address or you just want to leave EDF, then call. Make a complaint about EDF if there is a specific reason you are leaving. They might make a better offer to encourage you to stay with them. Complain if you want to take your tariff with you but EDF is unable to transfer it. Or complain if you have issues with a final bill or closing down your account. You should call if you think that they’re over-charging you on the final bill and they owe you a refund. Complain about transfer delays.
