Brighthouse is the leading rental retailer in the UK as it has over 270,000 customers and 300 stores. Brighthouse was first founded in 2002 and is a subsidiary of Caversham Finance Limited. Across the UK, Brighthouse employs over 300 members of staff in both the stores and call centres. Brighthouse states that they are different to other rental retailers as they aim to be transparent throughout the whole process. Brighthouse has items from many popular brands such as Sony, Whirlpool and Acer. They are known to charge an APR of 69.9% and also charge for warranties. Earlier in 2016, the Victoria Derbyshire programme on the BBC found that the total cost of a washing machine costing £358 was actually £1092 after the interest rates and warranties had been applied. In the event that you are unhappy with a Brighthouse product, a repair Brighthouse has conducted on your behalf or you disagree with a payment schedule, you can contact Brighthouse by calling 0843 596 1566 to make a complaint. The Brighthouse complaints procedure offers you three ways to make your complaint. You can make the complaint in-store to a member of staff, over the phone by calling 0843 596 1566 or in writing, by sending your complaint to their head office address listed at the bottom of the page. The Brighthouse complaints team will aim to solve your complaint in three working days, if they cannot, the following actions will occur, Brighthouse will write to you to confirm that they have received your complaint if you have written them a letter, the team will aim to call you back no more than 48 hours after your initial contact to work towards a solution that works for both parties, they will keep you updated on the progress of the complaint resolution process, send you a letter with their findings and solution, known as a final response letter.

If you are not satisfied with the complaint resolution letter, you can refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman. Your complaint can only be referred to the Ombudsman if you are not satisfied with the outcome, or if it has been eight weeks since you first made a complaint and you have not received a response from Brighthouse. The benefits of paying weekly/monthly are that you can split the cost of a larger payment into smaller manageable payments.
